Why?
Lately, I’ve been reflecting on why I want to make edits in the first place. Originally, I felt like I had an obligation to honor media I loved in some way, and I figured making a cool edit of it would be the best way to do that. Of course, these edits also had a secondary purpose of impressing others, hence constant jump cuts and other TikTok gimmicks (as you can see in my frieren edit).
However, I recently had a perspective shift after watching 3 idiots, of all movies. There was one particular scene (where Farhan confronts his dad) that made me incredibly emotional, and this also made me realize I could use edits as a way to document why certain media made me feel so strongly, as well as to share these sentiments to others, in as raw a format as possible. For me, this new mission means minimal editing and letting the media speak for itself, thus leaning more toward my long-form spider-verse x superpowers edit than my instagram content.
The first edit in this project will be arcane x i love you, in which I focus on the love that forms the emotional core of Arcane Season 1.
